Project overview

This Pacific Palisades residence represents a complete Smart Home and Dedicated Theater installation designed and integrated by Sound Decision. As with many of our projects, Crestron was selected as the foundation of the system, delivering seamless control and automation throughout the home.

Leveraging the Crestron Home platform, we unified motorized shades, lighting control, climate management, and numerous other smart home features into a single, intuitive user experience. Homeowners can effortlessly manage their environment using a combination of wall-mounted and wireless touchscreens strategically located throughout the residence. Elegant keypad stations provide immediate access to frequently used functions such as lighting on/off, scene selection, and shade control.

The dedicated theater was designed to deliver a premium cinematic experience. The system features custom in-wall loudspeakers from James Loudspeaker, advanced audio processing from Marantz, and content sources including Apple TV and cable programming. Video is provided by a Digital Projection projector paired with a Stewart Filmscreen projection screen, creating exceptional image quality and immersive performance.
A whole-home audio and video distribution system allows music, television, and video content to be shared throughout the residence. Occupants can enter any room, including the Primary Bedroom, and select from multiple Apple TV or cable box sources. This flexible architecture enables video content to be routed to various displays throughout the home while audio is reproduced through the speakers located in each respective space.

Convenience and automation are central to the home’s design. Strategically placed keypads allow the homeowners to activate “All On” or “All Off” commands with a single button press, providing instant control of the home’s lighting. Automated motorized shades are programmed to raise and lower at scheduled times throughout the day, enhancing comfort, privacy, and energy efficiency while complementing the home’s daily routines.

Sound Decision deployed Access Networks Wi-Fi through the house to create seamless 5 and 2G coverage.

The property is protected by a comprehensive security camera system, enhanced by a Deep Sentinel hub that utilizes advanced AI technology to identify potential intruders. When suspicious activity is detected, Deep Sentinel’s monitoring platform engages a live security guard who can immediately assess the situation and communicate directly through the cameras’ built-in two-way audio system. This proactive approach allows real-time intervention, often deterring unwanted activity before it escalates.
