Project overview
This Brentwood, California residence features a dedicated Game Room centered around a striking 100-inch Sony display. A unique aspect of the design is the pair of custom-milled loudspeaker enclosures that flank the display, creating a clean, seamless appearance while concealing sophisticated audio engineering.
The home theater receiver, housed in the cabinetry below the display, powers a custom front-stage speaker system designed to preserve aesthetics without sacrificing performance. Each custom speaker assembly incorporates both its respective left or right channel speaker along with a dedicated center-channel driver. This innovative configuration delivers the full left, center, and right soundstage while maintaining a minimalist architectural look. Surround sound is provided by discreet in-ceiling speakers positioned throughout the room.
Low-frequency performance is handled by a James Loudspeaker PowerPipe subwoofer system. The subwoofer itself is concealed in a closet behind the television, while bass energy is delivered into the room through an acoustic tube that terminates at a vent designed to resemble a standard HVAC grille. This solution provides powerful, impactful bass while keeping the equipment completely hidden from view.
System control is provided through a Crestron HR-310 handheld remote, offering simple and intuitive operation of all entertainment sources. In addition to locally connected components, the room is integrated with the home’s centralized video distribution system, allowing content from Roku, Apple TV, and Kaleidescape sources to be routed from the multi-room video matrix to the display. This flexible architecture enables occupants to enjoy a wide variety of entertainment content from virtually anywhere in the home.
