Project Overview

The Sportsmen’s Lodge shopping center features a four-zone distributed commercial audio system that combines SoundTube in-ground and surface-mounted speakers to create an immersive outdoor sound experience while blending seamlessly into the property’s landscape.

Surface-mounted SoundTube speakers were strategically installed along the edges of the planter areas surrounding the central seating spaces, while in-ground SoundTube speakers were concealed throughout the landscaped sections extending the length of the property. The result is consistent, high-quality audio coverage without detracting from the shopping center’s architectural design.

The system is powered by LEA Professional Connect Series amplifiers networked via Dante to a Symetrix DSP processor, providing precisely calibrated audio throughout each zone. The outdoor Deck area includes a combination of surface-mounted and in-ground speakers, along with a Dante-connected XLR input that supports live events such as yoga classes, fitness sessions, and community gatherings.

For temporary events, presenters simply connect their iPhone or DJ set up to the Deck’s XLR input. The analog signal is immediately converted to digital audio and transmitted over hundreds of feet of network cabling to the concealed central equipment rack. There, the Symetrix DSP processes the signal and routes it exclusively to the Deck speakers, allowing event audio to play locally while background music continues uninterrupted throughout the remainder of the shopping center.

A Crestron touchscreen located in the central equipment room provides intuitive control of audio sources, zone selection, and independent volume adjustment, enabling facility staff to easily manage the entire outdoor audio system from a single interface.
