Project Overview
James Jordan Middle School, an award-winning charter school in the San Fernando Valley, engaged Sound Decision to design a highly flexible multipurpose room for its campus.
The building itself was unique—a detached structure composed of modular sections fabricated in Oakland, California, then transported and assembled onsite within a portion of the school’s parking lot.
Our scope centered around creating a versatile AV environment that could support multiple classroom orientations, allowing presentations to face either west or north depending on the room setup. To accomplish this, we designed a dual-display media system featuring 75-inch Samsung displays integrated behind glass within the walls. Each display was paired with James Loudspeaker Wedge Series speakers, carefully positioned to blend seamlessly into the wall-to-ceiling transition for a clean architectural appearance.
The result was effectively two independent media systems operating within the same space, providing exceptional flexibility for different teaching configurations and events. HDMI and XLR wall connections were distributed throughout the room, enabling instructors and guests to route both video and audio to either display system and speaker zone. Wireless presentation capability was also incorporated for added convenience.
System control was simplified through a wall-mounted Crestron touchscreen interface featuring custom graphical controls, making daily operation intuitive for faculty and staff. Wireless microphones were integrated into the audio system as well, allowing instructors to easily speak over program material and presentations when needed.
